Scilab for Engineers

In this course students will learn Scilab which is a free open source alternative to Matlab. Scilab is a numerical computing system with many elementary and advanced mathematical functions and 2-D ,3-D graphical functions for plotting data and many more , which are useful in scientific computing and analysis. Students will learn how to develop programs in Scilab to solve problems encountered in mechanical engineering field like Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines ,Mechanical Vibrations , Heat Transfer and Finite element method. Students with prior C / C++ knowledge can develop programs in C / C++ and interface it with Scilab  using the Scilab API interface to create more advanced external function libraries.
